On June 26th my baby brother, Andrew, married the love of his life, Allison. The day was beautiful–just like the couple, and it was amazing to witness and photograph two wonderful people who love the Lord join together in marriage.

Andrew: I can’t believe you are all grown up and married! It seems like just yesterday that I was “teaching” you how to flip backwards on the rings of our swing set and dressing you up in play clothes–as a little girl, of course (something you so sweetly tolerated and something dad did not! haha). I don’t know where time has gone, but I do know that it has transformed you into an amazing man of God; someone who seeks to honor Him each day. I am so proud of you and am so proud to be your sister. You may be bigger and taller, but you will always be my little brother, one whom I love dearly.

Allison: Life became even sweeter the day that you showed up in Andrew’s life, not just for him, but for all of us in our family. You have such a beautiful, wise, and loving spirit–exactly the kind of girl that I pray would come along one day for my brother. I can’t tell you how much I adore you, along with the rest of your incredible family. My arms can’t stretch out any wider to welcome you all and to tell you what a blessing you all are. I love you, my dear new sister-in-law.

I managed to go most of the wedding day without crying (only once when I showed up to start shooting and a little bit once my brother saw Allison for the first time), however working on the pictures and putting these slideshows together really did it to me! Here is just a peek (okay, a rather large peek) of their wedding day. The pictures are divided up into three separate slideshows so make sure to watch them all (and to have your volume turned up)! I hope they touch your heart and serve as a way to remember just some of the many special moments that were shared that day.

With Camera (and a tissue) in Hand,

I cannot believe it’s that time of year again! Christmas really seems to come quicker and quicker the older I get. 😉

2015 was a wonderful and rather uneventful year (which we needed due to the prior year!) for our family. God’s love and grace were ever-so-present and continue to serve as constant reminders of how to live our every day lives.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2016!

*A special shout-out to my “photo bestie”, Lindsey Mountain Kelly of Feather Blue Photography for taking our family pictures! Love you dearly, my friend!*

It’s quite an exciting thought to think that at any moment now, these two wonderful people could be welcoming their first baby into the world!  Close friends and family have been lifting them up in prayer and thinking of them constantly, all while joyfully anticipating knowing the gender, hearing the name, and of course, the story behind the most amazing transformation that takes place once they are welcomed into parenthood.

Emily and Jason are dear friends of mine and I have been lucky enough to watch their relationship grow over the years along with witnessing several big milestones in their lives. This new milestone of becoming parents has been one we had hoped and prayed for for a long time. To know that it is so close of becoming a reality gives me the deepest sense of gratitude along with an overwhelming sense of joy.

As I continue to lift this couple up in prayer, I thought I would take the time to blog their maternity session from this past September, ya know, before their baby is born. 😉 It’s been a special way to reflect on all the things God has done in their lives, and will continue to do, along with how faithful and wonderful He is to those that love Him. (Deuteronomy 7:9, Lamentations 3:22-23, 1 Corinthians 1:9, Hebrews 10:23, Jeremiah 29:11-13).

Love you so much Emily and Jason and cannot wait to see you both snuggling your sweet baby in your arms at last!

It’s been forever since I have blogged a session of mine! There is some catching up to be done!  🙂

What better session to get back on track with than the Richardson family. They are an amazing little family; one that I really adore and am blessed to be getting to know more and more!

Zach and Hannah welcomed their first baby back in November of last year and were in need of their first outdoor family photos. There was a bit of crying that took place (and nope, it wasn’t from Zach 😉 ). It can be an unsettling feeling for the parents when they have a kiddo that cries during their session and often times, they leave feeling as if none of the pictures are going to turn out. Oh how I just want to hug them and tell them over and over again that it’s OK and that I never wrap up a session unless I feel that we did in fact get SOMETHING. And actually, I think it’s safe to say that most parents are pleasantly surprised to see their images from their session that they previously thought didn’t go so well. It’s a relief for sure! 🙂  Hopefully this is the feeling that you both experienced as well, Zach and Hannah! Thank you both so much for giving me the honor of taking your family photos. I loved my time with you three and loved seeing you guys be such wonderful and loving new parents. Blessings!

Just like that, I blinked, and found another one of my children’s first year of life under wraps. That first year is such a tiring and challenging one, but it is also filled with so many great milestones and memories. From the “10 o’clock scream” where she cried and cried starting at 10pm for at least an hour, every single night for months–no matter if we had her asleep well before then! To around the clock nursing, rocking, consoling, and feeling the warmth of a little baby noggin’ nuzzled against my chest. To her first smiles and giggles and discovery of her toes, to her first real food and constant changing of clothes (and no I didn’t mean to rhyme there!). I would mention crawling and walking, but she has yet to accomplish either of those two things just yet. 😉

My Isla, you are ONE! I can’t help but get emotional when I think back to this very day one year ago. From a labor that was smooth and beautiful to a delivery and recovery that was scary, chaotic, and filled with uncertainty. Ultimately, bringing you into this world made my faith in the Lord grow even stronger. His peace is tangible. His grace is enough. His blessings are abundant and I remember all of these things every time I hold you in my arms. Cody and I are so grateful to have you on loan from the Lord, and strive every day to raise you as a little lady who will live up to the meaning of your name: “devoted to God”. Oh Isla Rae, your sweet little spirit is such a joy to all who meet you. I’m excited to see how you bloom and blossom in year two of your precious life!

We cannot thank our friends and family enough who have helped us navigate this first year. They say it takes a community to raise a child, let alone two, and we have definitely felt just that!

For her first birthday we had our immediate family over for some lunch and goodies at “Isla’s Ice Cream Parlor”. It turned out pretty sweet! 😉 Happy Birthday Isla girl. You sure are loved!
